Inform, Don’t Insult
As a technology lover, it is easy to forget that not everyone speaks the same language. This can cause people to feel uncomfortable or even insulted. No matter what your cause is and what kind of skills are required, there will always be others that know more about something than you. The same goes for those experienced in real estate, construction, piloting, and software development.
Rather than insulting people by using terms others don’t know, step back and consider your words. Talk in simple terms. Make everyone feel welcome. If you find out that everyone else in the group understand the same lingo, then go for it! Otherwise, keep your talk in simple terms. You’ll find that people will be more willing to listen, more willing to volunteer, and more willing to help your team be a success.
