The Ongoing Leader: Dealing With Doubt

Submitted by James Higginbotham on May 20, 2009 – 5:07 amNo Comment

Has God given you a big project? Something so big that you doubt if it will ever really happen?

Noah has that kind of project. He was asked to build an ark when he had never seen rain or a flood. He was asked to build the seemingly impossible, all the while being considered a nutcase by the people around him. Then, after the rain came, he had to hear it pour on the ark for days and nights. Imagine hearing something you’ve never seen or heard before, for days or weeks.

Do you think that Noah had some doubts? The Bible tells us that he was faithful in doing what he was told. But, don’t you think there were days where he asked himself, “What am I doing?”

We are all entitled to some doubt. Life has challenges and uncertainties. It is natural to doubt where you are headed or the decisions you need to make.

What we shouldn’t do is let that doubt creep into us and find a home. Doubt is normal. Continued doubt is not.

Have doubt about your leadership or where your team is headed? Bring it to God. Pour your concerns on Him. Let Him minister to you. Perhaps seek some counsel with a wise leader. Just make sure you deal with it and move on.
