Leadership is in the BHAG

Submitted by James Higginbotham on November 3, 2008 – 5:59 am2 Comments

What is your cause? What is it that you want to see accomplished that is beyond your reach? Whatever it is, it is your Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG).

A BHAG is something that only God can accomplish.

A BHAG will require more than just you to get done.

A BHAG may last longer than your involvement.

A BHAG will stand out to those around you.

So, what is your BHAG? What has God placed on your heart that is beyond anything you could ever do by yourself? What is He talking to you about? What fire is He putting into your heart that you cannot quench?

Share your BHAG in the comments and let the Agile Ministry community pray for you and what you are doing. That is what we are here for!

  • Thanks for this post. I’ve heard the BHAG thing before over the years. But with the Serving Strong life coaching efforts God has given me to pursue, I have printed out this post to contemplate in more depth.

We are ReLaunching the church on Easter Sunday ‘09 … 20 of us, with $30,000 of updating & repair, and getting the word out in the next 6 months. It is exactly as you described it:
… only God can accomplish it.
… requires more than just myself.
… will last way lonnger than my involvement.
…and, will stand out to – or define, even – the faith community AND the neighboring community around us.

YES! Please pray for Highland Park Community Church in Levittown, PA!! THanks for your post!!
