The Church Needs You to Lead

Submitted by James Higginbotham on October 27, 2008 – 5:39 amNo Comment

The church needs you. The church needs you to get involved. To get involved in ways you may never have before. I’m going to do it. I’m asking you to do it as well. The church needs you to lead.

The church is losing its way. It isn’t focused on bringing light to a hurting world, as much as it is interested in bringing more lights to a Sunday service. It is more interested in showing clips of movies to get a point across than letting God’s Word heal. The church is not meant to be free admission to a movie of the week experience, as some might think it is. We think that if we increase numbers from week-to-week, we are making a difference. I can’t agree with that, as numbers mean nothing compared to a change in someone’s life.

So, I’m going to lead. I’m going to lead in a way that is fundamentally different than I lead today. I’m not talking about leading another ministry team at church. I’m speaking of leading people to the church.

It may be by the simple act of bringing a smile to someone that is hurting when they walk into church. It may be through spending time with those I serve alongside. It may be asking those around me how I can pray and help them today, not next week. It might even be through involvement in local and national politics, where I’ve become so cynical recently.

The church needs you to lead. I’m going to step up and lead. Will you join me?
