Have a Church Labor Day

Submitted by James Higginbotham on September 1, 2008 – 5:10 amNo Comment

In the U.S., the first Monday in September is recognized as Labor Day. It was originally started in the 1880s to celebrate the strength of the trade and labor organizations, but now is recognized as a day of rest and the unofficial end of the summer season.

How are you celebrating Labor Day in your church? Here are some ideas on how you can celebrate Labor Day with your church:

  1. Turn September into a month of rest for your volunteers by giving them an extra weekend off
  2. Have a cookout and celebrate as a church what you’ve accomplished over the summer
  3. Celebrate the start of the coming holiday season, before it gets so busy with work that you miss it

Whatever you do, use this day or even the entire month to celebrate your volunteers – they’ve earned it!
