More or less

I’m in the process of teaching my daughter to give up something when she gets something new. It is an interesting process and one that requires patience from me and my wife. Forcing her to give up something she already owns requires her to make tough decisions, but also shows that the collector mentality isn’t always a good thing.

So, here is a simple thought to start off your week:

Are you always asking for more and end up doing less?

If you are, then you may need to start asking for less – less things, less money, and (even) less people for your ministry. Sometimes we turn our ministries into an mp3 collection as we try to seek out the next big thing without giving up something else in return.

The next time you get something new – a new team member, new equipment, or a new budget, try giving something to someone else. It will break your need to collect by focusing you on giving away instead.
