Church staff are too busy for the technical details – guide them
You may not realize it, but most church staff don’t understand if your servers are dual core or quad core, if the website has an RSS feed, or if the weekly podcast is using mp3 or mp4 format (even if you do). They are just too busy for the details and decision making within your team, so they are depending on you to figure it out and take ownership of your ministry team.
What does this mean to you, as a ministry leader? Your church staff need you and your team to guide their decisions, not for you to wait on their guidance. Most staff would love for you to tell them what you think is best, why, how much time and money it will cost, and when it can be completed.
If they ask for your input, provide them with no more than 3 options, explain the pro’s and con’s of each, and provide a recommendation (with your reasoning). The staff with either give you a different answer and explain why, agree with your conclusions, or ask for more research to be conducted.
So, next time, provide guidance rather than waiting for them to guide you. They’ll appreciate it!
