Our food based ministry, the "Food Fairies," received a plea for churches to help with aps in the budget of the HIV Day Center, run by the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon. The plea was for local churches to provide for the Friday lunches at the Day Center, saving it about $4000 a year. We eventually got to where we serve Friday lunch once a month. The clients at the center look forward to the first Friday, when we will appear with our lunches. Not long after we started our monthly lunches, five of the clients from the Day Center began serving as volunteers at our church's weekly Loaves and Fishes lunch. They are our most faithful volunteers.

A wise choice my friend. I'm not sure when I will go back to writing but I don't think it will be soon. Thank you for always reading my mind. :)

James, thanks for your encouragement, great ideas and persistence over the years on this excellent blog! Enjoy a good rest, and when you feel like the Lord has got more for you to say, jump on back in. (Yay for RSS which means we won't miss when that happens!)

God bless,
Larry

Ah! This resonates with me too. I am learning (slowly) that I need to converse with God daily about my projects, my work, and my clients. He has been teaching me this - the more of His vision I receive, the more exciting the project is.

"...much of my hesitation was related to past experience, not the foundation that God would provide joy and peace no matter the circumstance."

Wow, that's exactly where I have been over the past few months. I've really been wrestling with "signing on" with the church for another season of ministry. All my reasons for wanting to walk away were based on things that happened in the past, but, through circumstances and the voices of others, I continually felt God's undeniable pull to stay put. That's what I have done. Now I must continue the hard work of daily giving everything over to God so that His work can be done.

Thanks for sharing, James.
