As we examine the role of unity and diversity in your leadership, we start to see a pattern emerge. This is a God-given pattern that encourages a dependence upon one another through relationships with our volunteers and leaders in the church. These relationships are for the purpose of building and maintaining unity within the local church.

As we integrate a variety of different personalities into our volunteer teams, we soon realize that leading is less about the activities and more about the people involved in the activities. Given the proper time and training, just about anyone can learn to usher, run a soundboard, or even teach a Bible study. The real test is what we do when they do it different than we want it done.

Every team looks a little different. It requires different skills, different activities, and different priorities. Within a single team, every volunteer offers a different talent and view on how things should work. As leaders, we must create unity with our team, across teams, and with staff.

Anxiety. I never really understood the word for a long time. That doesn’t mean that I didn’t struggle with anxiety, it just means that I never fully understand the impact it had on my life. That is, until I realized that I have struggled with panic attacks at different times in my life.

Just as we are called to daily prayer, so we are also called to daily worship. While we may have an amazing prayer life, daily worship requires more from us than a conversation. It requires purity of emotions, a heart of vulnerability, and love expressed to God.

As leaders, we must prioritize everything our team does. Priorities are essential to ensuring things execute smooth and the team is going in the right direction. Whether you lead a team of 1 or a team of 1000, how you start often determines how you will finish. This means getting first things first.

If leadership starts with seeking God, it grows by seeking His righteousness. We all go through times when we become more focused on ourselves than others. However, if we seek God and His righteousness, we will allow His love to flow through us in its purest form.

Effective leadership starts with seeking God. Whether you are leading a team at work, at the church, or at home, we are told to seek God first. When we seek God first, our leadership experience is dynamic and rich. When we don’t, it becomes dull and sometimes a burden.
