Leadership Essentials: Daily Worship

Submitted by James Higginbotham on June 1, 2010 – 4:15 amNo Comment

Just as we are called to daily prayer, so we are also called to daily worship. While we may have an amazing prayer life, daily worship requires more from us than a conversation. It requires purity of emotions, a heart of vulnerability, and love expressed to God.

Worship takes on more than just a few songs on Sunday mornings. Worship is about opening yourself up to tell God how much you love him. Our worship can be expressed through words, through song, or by reflecting on how amazing our God has been, is, and will always be. We can praise Him for the smallest things on earth or the largest things in the universe. We can praise Him for the smallest or largest deeds. We can praise Him for the smallest or largest obstacles in our lives.

As leaders, we need to give themselves over to this kind of worship on a daily basis, as it allows us to focus on God rather than on the tasks and difficulties of the day. It forces us to see ourselves, our team, and our circumstances from God’s eyes, not from our own. It causes us to focus on the eternal rather than the immediate.

Find a separate place and time throughout the day to worship God for who He is and help your team to find different ways of worshipping Him throughout their activities at church. You will be amazed at how God will change your team dynamics and attitudes.
