Start Where You Are: Your Leadership

Submitted by James Higginbotham on June 25, 2009 – 5:26 amNo Comment

When was the last time you took some time away from your team? How did they handle it?

A team, no matter how big or small, is only as effective as the leaders involved. This includes the times when they are not around. It is important to build a foundation of self-sufficiency into your team.Otherwise, your team will become so dependent upon you that you will never be able to take a family trip or a holiday.

Want to know how to build your team so that this can become a reality? It requires becoming focused on people, process, and procedures. We have discussed many of these topics before, so you can use the search feature on our website to find many of these articles. Or, you may want to get many of these articles, along with handy worksheets and discussion questions (for small groups, if you want to learn together) using our electronic workbook called Handle With Care.

So, ask yourself: Do I lead when I am away? If not, it is time to start.
