Filling Your Leadership Bucket

Submitted by James Higginbotham on March 24, 2009 – 5:07 amNo Comment

My wife recently started something cute with my daughter. It goes something like this:

Mom to Daughter: “My love bucket is empty. I need some hugs.”

Daughter to mom: “Ahhh. My love bucket is empty as well.”

Mom and Daughter hug.

Mom to Daughter: “That’s better, isn’t it?”

Daughter to Mom: “Yeah, my love bucket is full now”

I think leaders have a leadership bucket. It is the thing that fuels them when the going gets tough. And God can use a variety of things to fill it up:

He may use His Word to encourage and heal.

He may use a spouse to strengthen our resolve.

He may use a child to remind us of what is important.

He may use a friend to point out that things aren’t as bad as they may seem.

Whatever He does, let God fill your leadership bucket. Don’t let the world do it for Him.
