Volunteers Need Success Often

Submitted by James Higginbotham on December 10, 2008 – 5:40 amOne Comment

I was recently reminded of a simple approach to keeping your volunteers and your staff happy: create success quickly.

Volunteers and staff have a short memory. Volunteers are busy managing work, family, and life in general. Staff are busy dealing with phone calls, people in need, and holiday planning. Both are busy and quickly forget when the last success occurred.

If you want to keep volunteers and staff happy with your team, create small projects that require both faith and simple service. Your staff will see progress, as will your volunteers. This will keep everyone happy and make your job of leading easier.
