Volunteer Centered Thoughts: Sharing the Load
We often quote the saying “God will not give us more than we can handle”. This is based on 1 Corinthians 10:13: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” (NIV).
So, why do we as church staff and leaders think we can and should do church by ourselves? Why do we keep adding more and more onto ourselves, when God wants each of us to share the load?
Instead, why not share the load with others in the church by utilizing the principles of The Leader Max to develop those around us?

Does this relate more to how the church is structured these days? I think it has to do with many churches operating as if they are an organization that serves the members rather than a community of Gods people where everyone has a part.
Matt, part of this may be related to church structure and how church leadership is demonstrated by the staff. Either way, many leaders are too focused on doing it themselves rather than seeking others to come along side and help.
My prayer is that they begin to realize that God works through both them and others, not just them. This means raising up leaders around them to take over or share the burdens that they currently have today.
Thanks for the great comment!
